Los Angeles: Affordable Housing for Artists

A new development in the Arts District of Los Angeles, One Santa Fe, will offer 88 studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments to artists at half the market rate to qualifying applicants.  The project has been designed by award-winning architect, Michael Maltzan and will feature a 5,000 square foot gallery, a 99-seat theater and a state-of-the-art screening room where nightly art shows, performances and screenings are planned. The vision for the project is to create a center for the arts as well as a community of like-minded residents, merchants, chefs, and artists. At the same location as the residences will be a commercial development called The Yards at One Santa Fe which will feature the Ace Hotel, designers/specialty boutiques and restaurants.

The apartments will be awarded through a government-regulated selection process based on income and other criteria.  An upcoming workshop will help you learn more about the development, eligibility requirements and how to apply:
